Renovation that paid back a double price

Renovation that paid back a double price

When I was signing the papers for my first detached house in Southern California I knew it was a bargain. The house was a classic ranch style home built in the 60’s and the condition was pretty bad. They sold it quick and cheap as they needed the money.

The previous owner didn’t seem to care much for how the house looked from the outside while he did do a lot for its interior. The house had perfect interior wall work, warm floors and nice furniture but it needed some major roofing renovation and most of the windows were about to fall out of their framesets.

I knew a good roofing company and had them fix the roof the very next week I had moved in. The windows were hard to deal with though. I desperately tried to find a good replacement windows contractor servicing my area but every single company I called was booked up for months to come. It was then that I turned to Google to help me find the company I needed. And it did help!

I got Win-Dor, Inc to install me brand new windows made of vinyl. I took great care in choosing the type of windows and they custom designed me six Europen style tilt and turn windows for the entire first floor, two broad awning windows for the basement and the attic, four double-hungs for the second floor.

After the roof and the windows were in place the house got unrecognizably beautiful looks! Needless to say that its market price rocketed immediately and after a few years I sold it for almost twice the price it had costed me.

Choosing your house windows

Windows are the things that open up the interiors of our buildings to the world outside. There are many variations of windows available based on several different classifications.

One of the ways that different variations of windows are classified is by the method used to open them. This is called the operating type and windows open and class differently depending on the operating type. The proper window for a given room will depend on several factors, but sometimes operating type dictates the choice. In other situations, any one of several choices will be appropriate for a given room.

Casement windows have hinges at the sides. Awning windows have the hinges at the top and they open outwards. On the other side, Hopper windows are hinged at the bottom and they open inward. Slider windows are very common. There are double sliders and single sliders.
