Frette’s Holiday 2008 Offerings

 frettefirstpic.jpg

This year the inspiration was 17th Century Swedish Queen Christina and her stirring portrayal by Greta Garbo in the 1933 film. The dramatic collection rendered in rich reds with a tapestry look consists of just 64 numbered sets in an ebony box containing a duvet, two Euro shams and two pillows. The retail price is $6,000.

The rest of the holiday collection includes mink slippers, a mink throw, wool blankets, cashmere scarves and a few selected high-end pieces of loungewear. The collection will be on display in Frette windows in November but you can catch a sneak peek in the gallery below.

Kids Bedroom from Di Liddo & Perego

Kids Bedroom from Di Liddo & PeregoKids Bedroom from Di Liddo & Perego

This chunky, cheerful kids bedroom is from Di Liddo & Perego. Fun and functional, there is lots of storage space in drawers, the wardrobe, and on shelves, so that the bedroom can be kept nice and tidy. But even with the toys away, the bedroom looks ready for some fun with its ‘building block’ theme of square boxes in vibrant hues. The bed is short, with a ‘Cubik’ bedhead to kept nighttime essentials close by. Upholstered poufs are practical and playful – great for when friends come over. But this kids bedroom also has a serious side… there is an ample desk for getting on with homework and other projects. Locating the desk next to the bookcase, the kids will have all they need to get things done (and have a good time) within one great space.

How i can have a modern bedroom

Everyone wants a great up to date look in the bedroom and you might find yourself inspired by a modern bedroom decorating idea that you have seen on TV or in a decorator magazine. If you are planning on duplicating a room plan exactly, have an open mind as the probabilities of an exact replication will not be possible, but you can come close with some innovative ideas. But, if you observe the following basic elements of modern design, you can obtain a nicely designed bedroom.

Color

Unlike popular decorating schemes in the past, our modern era likes to concentrate on one or two colors for a smooth, sophisticated look. Browns and white are typical colors today. Black and white is a great choice for modern decor and it doesn’t have to be boring if you spice it up with a bright color like red or yellow. One color that is very popular is chocolate brown and this can be used in varying shades of darkness. I chose these colors for two reasons. First, they go well with most modern furniture pieces, and second, they give the room a nice warm tone.

Pattern

The rugs and fabrics used in modern bedroom decor don’t rely on the fancy patterns of the past. Solid colors can be made more interesting by combining them with different textures. Not all patterns can be used when going for a modern design; geometric patterns are your best choice.

Red Bedroom

The bedroom is one place in your home where your personality and style can be and should be expressed freely in its interior design. It is a room for your relaxation and comfort. The interior design of the bedroom should suit the taste of the owner of the bedroom, and that you should not choose a design for your bedroom because of fad or trend, or even because it is dictated by your designer. It is important that you choose a design for your bedroom that you like and what will make you feel most comfortable with, it should reflect a feeling of rest, tranquility and peacefulness. The use of color in your bedroom is very important because colors invoke different feelings to a person. There are generalizations on what feelings and effects a color can have on a person, but still there are no fixed rules on this. Our perceptions of colors are oftentimes cultural and personal.

Red is known to be a color of aggressiveness, passion, love and anger. But among the Chinese, red is a color of prosperity and good fortune. Since red is said to stimulate a faster heartbeat and increase adrenaline, it is not advisable for people who have difficulty sleeping to use this color for their bedroom. But if you want love and passion to be the main activity in your bedroom then a splash of red in your bedroom walls, adding red artworks or the use of red bedcovers, red pillows and red sheets will be best for you. As I have said above, there are no sure way to determine how a color may affect our feelings and mood, there are people who feel comfortable in a red room and may find the red color adds a soothing feel in their bedroom while others find it hard to relax and rest in a red bedroom. In using the color red in your bedroom, does not necessary mean that your bedroom will be red all over.

Since red is an attention grabbing color, you can just use accessories, bed sheets, lamps, or just hang a red artwork to feel the love and passion this color exudes. Give the red color a try in your bedroom and you might just be surprised at what moods and feelings it will invoke in you and your bedroom. Source
